Montse Alegret Llorens, PhD

Dr. Montse Alegret is a Neuropsychologist. She graduated in Psychology from the Universitat Autònoma Barcelona and received her PhD from the University of Barcelona. She specialized in Neuropsychology at the Department of Applied Neurosciences of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Barcelona and at the Movement Disorders Unit of the Department of Neurology at the Hospital Clínic (Barcelona).

She is currently directing the Department of Clinical Neuropsychology of the Memory Unit of Fundació ACE Barcelona, Institut Català de Neurociències Aplicades, where she is carrying out her clinical, research and teaching activities.

She has a wide experience in diagnosis, clinical management, neuropsychological evaluation, cognitive stimulation and research of different neurodegenerative diseases. She has published around 80 articles in specialized magazines of international prestige, as well as 4 book chapters in dementia manuals. She has participated in several projects about the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. She is currently part of the research team of national (FACEHBI) and international (e.g., MOPEAD) projects on early detection of Alzheimer’s disease. She is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and belongs to the editorial committee of the Iberoamerican Journal of Neuropsychology and reviewer of several international journals.
