IV Congresso iberoamericano de neuropsicología

Bemvindas(o) ao IV Congresso Iberoamericano de Neuropsicologia, que será realizado por meio virtual nos dias 27, 28 e 29 de maio de 2021. O Congresso Iberoamericano de Neuropsicologia é um evento que surgiu com a ideia de promover o desenvolvimento da Neuropsicologia em países de língua espanhola e portuguesa. O congresso foi idealizado pelo Dr. Juan Carlos Arango Lasprilla e até o momento foi realizado em três versões: dois na Espanha, específicamente em Bilbao (2016) e Almeria (2018) e o último em Cali (2019), Colômbia.

                Até o dia de hoje os congressos tiveram uma presença aproximada de 3.240 pessoas de 28 países, 96 palestrantes, foram realizados 24 cursos précongresso, 168 apresentaçõesorais, 30 simpósios e 715 pôsteres. Da mesma forma, o congresso tem proposto diferentes atividades sociais para o desfrute de todos os seus participantes.

                Devido às circunstancias que vivemos na atualidade, com a pandemia do COVID-19, o IV Congresso será realizado de forma virtual. Entretanto, não será um impedimento para a garantia da qualidade deste, que será igual ou melhoraos anteriores. Toda a equipe está preparando um programa científico de estatura internacional, tanto na organização de workshops temáticos pré-congresso, quanto no extenso programa de conferências, simpósios e pôsteres, que serão realizados nos días 28 e 29 de maio. A pesar de ser um congresso virtual, haverá atividades sociais para que os participantes possam interagir e passarum tempo agradável na companhia de outros colegas de diferentes países do mundo.

                Gostaríamos de destacar que o congresso irá incluir algumas palestras sobre tele-neuropsicologia e oferecerá estratégias e recomendações sobre como praticar a Neuropsicologia de forma ética e responsável durante estes tempos de pandemia. Estamos convencidos de que hoje, mais do que nunca, é possível unir esforços e trabalhar de forma conjunta no desenvolvimento e consolidação de uma Neuropsicologia nos países de língua espanhola e portuguesa.

                Este congresso acolhe todos os profissionais que, de uma forma ououtra, estão envolvidos na avaliação, diagnóstico e intervenção de pessoas com alterações neuropsicológicas. A complexidade das conseqüências de um dano cerebral, torna necessário um trabalho multidisciplinar, com uma variedade de profissionais especializados que, juntamente com neuropsicóloga(o)s, desempenham um papel central na reabilitação de pessoas com lesão encefálica e também de seu ambiente próximo. Hoje mais do que nunca, as pessoa scom danos cerebrais e suas famílias nos pedem que façamos ciência, que sejamos corajosos, ousados e que son hemos comum futuro melhor para elas. Vamos fazerisso!

Welcome to the IV Iberoamerican Conference of Neuropsychology,being held virtually May 27-29, 2021. The Iberoamerican Conference of Neuropsychology arosefrom the idea of promoting the advancement of the field of neuropsychology in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries. This international conference was initiated by Dr. Juan Carlos Arango Lasprilla, with previous events held in Spain (Bilbao 2016, Almeria 2018) and Colombia (Cali 2019).

Over 3,200 people from 28 countries have participated in these Iberoamerican conferences, with 96 keynote speakers, 24 pre-conference workshops, 168 oral presentations, 30 symposiums, and 715 poster presentations. The conferences included various social and cultural activities for the enjoyment of all participants.

Due to the challenges associated with COVID-19 facing Iberoamerican countries, the IV Iberoamerican Conference of Neuropsychology will be held virtually. However, the online format will not interfere with the offer of a top quality conference. The virtual attendance will allow participation from even more international experts and we have social and cultural online activities as well as part of the preliminary program. This conference will be of equal or higher standards than those of previous years. The organizational committee is finalizing speakers pre-conference interactive small group workshops on May 27^th and a 2-day conference program with outstanding key note addresses, symposiums, oral presentations, and viewable poster presentations on May 28^thand  29^th. To accommodate time differences, conference activities are planned from 7am to 7pm New York time. Despite this being a virtual conference, there will be social and cultural activities for the enjoyment of all participants who will have the opportunity to join other colleagues from diverse Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Tele-neuropsychology is receiving considerable attention as of late. This conference will address this topic with lectures, up-to-date information, and strategies and recommendations regarding the practice tele-neuropsychology in a responsible and ethical manner during this pandemic. We are convinced that today more than ever, we can all join forces in an effort to collaborate in the advancement and strengthening of neuropsychology in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries.

The IV Iberoamerican Conference of Neuropsychology welcomes all professionals who are involved in the assessment, diagnosis, and/or intervention of patients with neuropsychological alterations. The complexity of the sequelae produced by brain alterations necessitates a multidisciplinary approach with specialized professionals from diverse backgrounds, who, along with neuropsychologists, play an important role in the rehabilitation of these clients and their families. In these challenging times, it is imperative that we focus on science, be brave, be daring, and dream of a better future for clients, patients, and their families. Without delay, let’s do it!
